Councillor Gord Klassen files for re-election in Fort St. John

Fort St. John Councillor Gord Klassen is seeking another term on city council, submitting his nomination papers at city hall alongside his wife, Sharon.

Klassen announced his bid for re-election in a social media post, saying the process of submitting nomination papers still carries a sense of excitement and anticipation.

He said the moment also gives him an opportunity to reflect on his time in office and the work done in the community over the past several years.

“There’s also a real sense of accomplishment looking back on the work we’ve done together over the past several years,” Klassen said.

He pointed to the progress made, challenges overcome and partnerships built as reasons he remains motivated to continue serving.

Klassen said he is also looking ahead to the “big plans and dreams” he has for Fort St. John and wants to continue working toward making it a place to live, work and play.

“Every time I sign those forms, I’m reminded of the big plans and dreams we continue to hold for our community, to make it the best place to live, work, and play,” he said.

His announcement comes days after fellow Councillor Sarah MacDougall said she will also seek re-election to Fort St. John council.

The two are among the incumbents entering the race ahead of the Oct. 17 municipal election.

Nomination papers for local candidates can be filed until Sept. 11.
