Candidates set to face voters at upcoming Peace Region forums

With the 2026 municipal election just weeks away, candidates across the Peace Region are getting ready to take questions from voters at a series of upcoming forums.

B.C.’s general local election is set for Oct. 17, with advance voting scheduled for Oct. 7 and 14.

In Dawson Creek, residents can hear from city council candidates during a councillor debate on Thursday.

The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Co-op Mercer Hall inside the Ovintiv Events Centre.

The forum schedule continues in Taylor on Sept. 28, where the Fort St. John Chamber of Commerce is hosting an all-candidates forum for District of Taylor mayor and council candidates.

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Taylor Community Hall, located at 9896 Cherry Ave.

Taylor residents can also submit questions through an online survey, with responses helping shape what candidates are asked during the forum.

Hudson’s Hope voters will have an opportunity to hear from candidates the same evening, with a forum hosted by the Bullhead Mountain Curling Club.

That event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peakers Centre on Dudley Drive.

The Fort St. John Chamber of Commerce will host another all-candidates forum on Oct. 1, this time featuring candidates running for mayor and council in the City of Fort St. John.

The event will be held at the Lido Theatre, with an online survey being used to help guide questions for the candidates.

For voters looking to get a closer look at the people seeking office, the forums offer a chance to hear candidates address questions and discuss local issues ahead of voting day.

The 2026 General Local Election takes place Oct. 17.
