Annual scrap metal drive for Fort St John Hospital Foundation begins

Residents in Fort St John are encouraged to gather their scrap metal for the annual summer scrap drive, which began earlier this week.

Contributors are asked to drop off their scrap metal at A.B.C. Recycling, on 78 Street, until September 1. Pickup can also be arranged with the recycling processor. A list of acceptable and unacceptable materials is available on A.B.C. Recycling’s website.

The first scrap drive in 2024 earned almost $26,000 in one month. According to the hospital foundation’s statement, they are looking to double the impact this year.

“(The proceeds are) helping to enhance healthcare right here at home,” the foundation wrote.

The winner of the scrap drive will be the person, company or group who contributes the most material overall. They will receive “a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted cowboy hat made entirely from scrap metal,” according to the foundation.
