Fort St John RCMP investigating homicide after person found dead

Mounties in Fort St John are investigating the death of a man after they responded to an assault call. The police received a report of an assault at 6:42 p.m. on Tuesday evening. 

“Upon arrival one person was located unresponsive, despite life saving measures he was pronounced deceased,” the RCMP said.  

The incident occurred in the 9900-block of 99 Avenue. The area surrounding the crime scene is expected to be sealed for a significant period, the RCMP did not provide an estimate of when the area will re-open to the public. 

The investigation is in its early stages, and police have not released any information regarding the suspect(s) or the victim. The Fort St John RCMP serious crime unit will examine the incident alongside the BC RCMP north district major crime unit. 

Mounties are asking anyone with information about the incident or dash cam footage of the area to contact their Fort St John detachment.
