Police ask for public assistance as they comb through barbershop investigations

The RCMP is asking for the public’s help in three of their ongoing investigations, all of which are related to the three Fort St John barbershops that were victimized in early July.

Police said the first barbershop, located near Totem Mall, was broken into around 2:20 on the morning of July 5, where a suspect was recorded on the security cameras at the 96A Street and 93 Avenue salon.

The second and third incidents were both on July 12, and Mounties believe they may be related. A shop on the 9200 block of 100 Street was set ablaze around 3:30 that morning, then, almost immediately after, another hairdresser in the 9800 block of 93 Avenue, by the Old Canadian Tire, was vandalized.

The RCMP said a white flat-deck pickup truck was seen leaving the scene of the arson on 100 Street and making the 300-metre drive before arriving at the 93 Avenue salon.

Officers did not provide any information on the model of that pickup truck, nor did they provide a description of the suspect, or suspects, for any of the three incidents.

As their investigations on these cases are ongoing, Mounties are asking members of the public with information to contact their Fort St John detachment.

Information can also be sent in anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
