RCMP seize two firearms, drugs, and drug paraphernalia after arresting two men in Fort St John

After two men were arrested in Fort St John, the local RCMP executed a search warrant, which led to two firearms, drugs, and tools to use, or produce, drugs being discovered and seized.

Mounties made the announcement today, but the arrests were made on July 31. The RCMP Street Enforcement Team, or plainclothes officers, entered a home on 103 Avenue in the city after arresting the pair.

The 42-year-old and 49-year-old men were arrested for selling drugs in the city, the Mounties said. After the men were taken in, officers said they obtained a search warrant from a judge to pursue the drug trafficking investigation further, and searched the downtown property.

“With the search warrant, police discovered a tablet manufacturing operation inside the residence,” the RCMP said.

“Police also located and seized large amounts of drugs, two firearms, (and) pill presses.”

Officers also said they saw chemicals which can be used to create drugs, though they did not specify which chemicals were located or what drug, or drugs, they suspect the two men were producing.

The suspects are no longer in police custody, as their charges are pending approval from the Public Prosecution Service of Canada – the federal agency is responsible for deciding whether cases that fall in their jurisdiction are brought to trial.

The prosecution service said their role is to determine if there is a reasonable chance an allegation can be proven through admissible evidence, and pursuing a case is in the public interest, charges are laid against the accused.

Any residents who witness suspicious, drug trafficking activity are asked to contact the Fort St John RCMP.
