Fort St John Flyers seek new heights one month ahead of new season’s start

Under the guidance of new head coach, Reid Campbell, the Fort St John Flyers will begin their 2025-2026 season one month from today and are hoping to improve from last year’s last place ranking.

The local NPHL team’s season will begin on Oct. 18 in Alberta against the Valleyview Jets. The Jets will meet the Flyers on their home ice in December for the Teddy Bear Toss.

This season’s home opener at the North Peace Arena will see the Flyers facing off against the Manning Comets.

The group will compete against teams across northeastern B.C. and northwestern Alberta – including Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek.

Weekly puck drops will continue on every Saturday until Dec. 13. Players will hit the ice on the Thursday and Friday of the following week before breaking for the holidays. Their season will resume in Fox Creek, Alta., on Jan. 10 against the Knights. Games are on varied dates from then to the end of the regular season on the last day of January.

The Flyers were ousted from the first round of the playoffs by the only other NPHL team from the province after a 5-15-0 finish last season –  which put them in last place in the Western division. The Dawson Creek Canucks ended Fort St John’s NPHL championship dreams in a four-game sweep.
