Information called for after suspicious death in Dawson Creek

A man’s death from earlier this month is now being considered suspicious by Dawson Creek RCMP, who are seeking footage of the location on the night of his passing.

Their police force said they “located Arron Linklater deceased” at a home on 107 Avenue in the city on Sept. 9. After police investigated further, they said the death seemed suspicious but did not elaborate as to how they reached this decision.

Now, the North District Major Crime Unit will join the examination and work alongside the city’s Mounties. This specialized unit of the RCMP visits the Peace from Prince George on occasion to provide support to detachments dealing with serious crimes.

Linklater was known to the police. He, alongside several others, were charged with drug trafficking in October of last year after an investigation led by the provincial Combined Special Enforcement Unit.

Officers said their investigation is ongoing and they “are not releasing further information to protect the integrity of the investigation.”

They asked anyone with surveillance or dash cam footage from the area around the house, located at 1513 107 Ave, to contact the city’s RCMP detachment.
