Chunk of 108 Street temporarily closed in Fort St John

A section of 108 Street, including the frontage road to the highway, will be closed today. Oct. 22, as the city has crews repaving.

The 381 metre stretch of road will be closed between the Alaska Highway Frontage Road and 99 Avenue today, the city of Fort St John said in their announcement. Workers are “milling and repaving portions” of the street.

Drivers are advised to use alternative routes when heading in that direction. 108 Street may be the path some parents take to pick their children up from Bert Bowes Middle School, which is a short distance from the intersection. Anyone approaching the school from 100 Avenue will not be impacted by the closure, unless they need to take Highway 97 home.

Nearby, 102 Street, runs parallel to the closed portion of the road and can be used to access the Alaska Highway.

Businesses in the area will remain open, the city said. It did not provide a potential end time for the closure.
