Body in burnt out car identified as missing Alberta man

Human remains found in a vehicle near Dawson Creek last month have been identified as those of a man last seen in the North Peace region.

RCMP said the body was that of Jesse Thompson Twain, a 29-year-old from Edmonton, Alta., who was reported missing after he was last seen on Oct. 10 in the Fort St. John area.

Police responded to a report regarding the burnt-out car on Oct. 13. After an initial inquiry by local officers, provincial Mounties stepped in to manage the investigation.

“All indications suggest that this is a homicide,” said Supt. Sanjaya Wijayakoon of the B.C. RCMP. His serious crime division took over the probe three days after officers found the Mazda sedan near 251 Road and the Kiskatinaw River.

A dedicated tip line has been established for information about Twain and “events leading up to and including his death.” Police are asking anyone with information to call 844-987-8477.
