32-year-old man facing eight charges after shots fired in Fort St John

A man is being charged in relation to gunshots heard in a neighbourhood in downtown Fort St John.

The shots were fired in a residential neighbourhood last Wednesday, Nov. 12, which  prompted Fort St John’s police force to secure a warrant for a home in the 9200 block of 91 Street. After searching the home, officers arrested one man “for several firearms offences.”

Eight criminal code charges were approved against the 32-year-old man by the B.C. Prosecution Service, but the RCMP did not specify the exact offences.

“Police attended within minutes and were able to isolate the residences to ensure public safety,” said the Mounties, describing their initial response to the call.

The RCMP’s investigation is ongoing. Anyone who lives in the area and has surveillance or dashcam footage of that day is being asked to get in touch with their Fort St John detachment.
