Old Christmas trees will be collected this weekend in Dawson Creek

Christmas tree collection is scheduled in Dawson Creek this weekend, and residents must have their trees on the curb by Saturday morning to participate.

The 1st South Peace Scouts are working with the city of Dawson Creek to coordinate the tree collection, which will take place this Saturday, Jan. 10.

“Residents wishing to participate are asked to place their Christmas trees at the curb by 8 a.m.,” the city wrote in a notice ahead of this weekend’s collection.

Real trees are being accepted by the group, who are not allowed to enter private property.

“For liability reasons, scout volunteers will not enter private property. Trees placed on decks, by garages, or elsewhere on residential property will not be collected. To ensure pick-up, all trees must be clearly placed at the curb and accessible from the roadway,” the city said.

Any forgotten trees can be picked up later. The city is advising residents to get in touch with the local chapter of the scouts to make arrangements.
