Naming rights to various recreation zones in Fort St John up for sale

More information, including pricing, is now available on the City of Fort St. John’s request for proposals seeking naming-rights sponsors for several recreation facilities.

In the recreation assets naming rights document, the City of Fort St. John lists the North Peace Arena, Kids Arena Fieldhouse, Festival Plaza and nearby Centennial Park, as well as other recreation zones, as available for naming rights.

“Each facility is treated individually, with tailored sponsorship packages designed to provide high visibility, meaningful community engagement, and long-term brand impact,” wrote the city in this document.

Each of the namable centres is listed with its price and an average number of annual visits.

The most expensive facility listed is the Pomeroy Sport Centre at the price of $150,000 per year for a 15-year lease term. The same length of lease for the home of the Huskies would cost $70,000 annually, and for the North Peace Cultural Centre, home to the library, will cost $77,500.

Of the options available for rent, the cheapest is Fish Creek Community Forest – which hosts the Terry Fox Run. For a five-year term, it is priced at $8,000 a year.

“The city of Fort St John invites qualified proponents to submit proposals for the naming rights of select municipal recreation assets. This opportunity offers organizations the ability to align their brand with highly visible, community-focused facilities that serve residents and visitors year-round,” reads the city’s request for proposals.

“Naming rights partnerships support the ongoing development, enhancement, and sustainability of municipal recreation infrastructure, while fostering strong community relationships,” it continues

Some city-owned facilities are off-limits for the sale of naming rights, according to the revised policy approved by council last year. These include the local RCMP detachment, fire station, and City Hall.

Applications for companies and commemorative sponsors opened last week and will close on April 2.
