Province provides funding to Dawson Creek for aircraft de-icing vehicle

The province is investing over $8 million into 18 land and water airports through the B.C. Air Access Program.

The program provides funding to airports serving less than one million passengers a year, with intake open from November to January annually.

“This program recognizes that smaller airports help connect communities and are essential for the people throughout B.C.,” said Mike Farnworth, Minister of Transportation and Transit.

Airports receiving funding include:

  • Dawson Creek: $293,194 for an aircraft de-icing vehicle
  • Chetwynd: $303,314 for an airfield lighting upgrade
  • McBride: $546,066 for improved lighting safety at Charlie Leake
  • Burns Lake: $24,406 for a facility master plan

Since 2017, the funding program has invested more than $80 million in grants to infrastructure projects at 83 air facilities.
