People who use drugs in Dawson Creek are being asked to exercise extra caution when using substances, after an increase in reports of overdoses, and one fatality, in the city.  

One active case of measles remains in Northern Health, as the total number of confirmed, inactive cases also increased by one case, compared to the report from three days ago.  

Fort St John is subject to an overdose alert until September 4 due to an increase in reports of people experiencing opioid poisonings and users not responding to the standard dosage of naloxone.  

Public health is warning visitors of the Fort St John Hospital that they may have been exposed to the measles if they were in the emergency department on August 18. 

Active measles cases in Northern Health have dropped but not been eradicated entirely with one active carrier currently residing in the health authority – it is also the only current case in British Columbia. 

Four active cases of measles are currently present in Northern Health, according to the most recent report.  

There are six active measles cases in Northern Health, after a quiet start to the month with no reported, active cases.  

Northern Health is advising residents in the northeast who were at the emergency department in Fort St John Hospital of a potential exposure to measles on August 3. 

Northeast B.C. continues battling the nationwide measles outbreak with active cases of measles being reported in the region – this comes after Monday’s report said the province was in the clear.
