The Fort St. John real estate market remained largely unchanged through the first half of 2026, although the total value of properties sold saw a notable increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest figures from the BC Northern Real Estate Board, 351 properties worth a combined $158.3 million were sold between January and June. That’s nearly identical to the 352 properties sold during the first six months of 2025, but the overall dollar value of those sales climbed from $135.3 million.

Single-family homes continued to make up the largest share of the market, with 168 changing hands so far this year. The median selling price reached $424,000, while homes spent an average of 34 days on the market before selling.
The market also saw activity across a range of other property types. Buyers purchased 44 half-duplexes, 26 homes on acreage and 26 manufactured homes on land during the first half of the year.
Sales also included 14 vacant land parcels and six manufactured homes located in parks.
Inventory remained healthy heading into the second half of the year. As of June 30, there were 467 properties listed for sale through the MLS® system across the Fort St. John area.
The latest figures suggest buyer activity has remained consistent despite changing market conditions, while rising property values pushed the total value of real estate sales higher than a year ago.
