Semi-truck driver dies in rollover north of Fort St. John

A semi-truck driver was killed in a single-vehicle rollover north of Fort St. John on Monday afternoon, RCMP said.

Police said they were called at 3:46 p.m. on Monday, July 27, to a crash on Montney Road at 246 Road.

Responding officers, along with firefighters and BC Emergency Health Services paramedics, found a northbound semi-trailer in a ditch after it had left the roadway and rolled over.

The driver, an adult man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Fort St. John RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services unit is investigating the cause of the crash.

“Our hearts go out to the family during this tragic loss,” said Const. Chad Neustaeter, media relations officer for Fort St. John RCMP. “At this time there is no criminality being attributed to this file.”

Montney Road remained closed through the afternoon and into the evening while investigators examined the scene. It reopened around midnight, police said.
