Hudson’s Hope ER closure extended into October

Residents in Hudson’s Hope will have to wait a few more days for emergency department services to return to the local health centre.

According to Northern Health’s Emergency Department Status page, the emergency department which has been closed since Sept. 25, will now remain unavailable until Thursday, Oct. 1.

The department had previously been scheduled to reopen Sept. 28.

Northern Health has attributed the ongoing service interruption to staffing challenges.

“The current service interruption in Hudson’s Hope is the result of staffing challenges we have outlined previously,” the health authority said in a written statement.

Northern Health says emergency care services are expected to resume at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 1.

The Hudson’s Hope Health Centre continues to operate during its regular hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and statutory holidays.

Residents who need emergency medical care while the department is closed are being advised to call 911. BC Emergency Health Services can then arrange transportation to the nearest available hospital.
