Taylor’s new council sworn in for 2026-2030 term

The District of Taylor’s new council has officially taken office, with Mayor Brent Taillefer and four councillors sworn in during the municipality’s inaugural meeting on Nov. 2.

Taillefer was re-elected in the 2026 Municipal Election, alongside incumbent councillor Murray Giesbrecht and returning councillor Brad Filmer. Peggy Alexander and Earle Connor are joining council for the first time.

The inaugural meeting also saw council assign several regional and community responsibilities for the 2026-2030 term.

Alexander was appointed as Taylor’s representative to the Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia, with Connor named as the alternate.

Taillefer and Filmer will represent the district on the North Peace Airport Society, while Giesbrecht will serve as Taylor’s representative on the Northeast Roundtable.

Alexander was also appointed to the Northern Development Initiative Trust Northeast Regional Advisory Committee, with Taillefer serving as the alternate.

Connor, Alexander and the district’s director of corporate services were appointed to the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel.

Taillefer will continue as Taylor’s director on the Peace River Regional District Board, with Filmer selected as the alternate director.

The next District of Taylor council meeting is scheduled for Nov. 23.
