Temporary power outages scheduled for parts of Chetwynd

Scheduled outages for a “pole replacement” are set to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 27 in Chetwynd. Over the course of this week, over 200 properties will be impacted, BC Hydro said.

The first day of outages will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. MST and will impact 112 properties on Moberly Road South and Moberly Lake Road South that border Moberly Lake.

Then, on Thursday, Jan. 29, 101 properties along Beryl Prairie Road, as well as other nearby buildings, will be without power for a pole replacement.  This outage is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until two on Thursday afternoon.

An additional outage is scheduled for the following day and will impact 44 customers along Brown Road, Cryingman Road, and West Moberly Road. The utility company cited the cause as “adverse weather,” but did not elaborate.

Affected customers should have been notified by BC Hydro ahead of the outage. The company mails postcards to people without My Hydro accounts – people with online utility accounts should have received an email or automatic phone call.

If the outage is cancelled, a phone message or email will be sent to people registered with My Hydro. Anyone who relies on snail mail for their updates will not receive a postcard and is advised to keep an eye on the company’s website.
