The Peace River Regional District will host a series of community meetings across the South Peace aimed at fostering an “open discussion” with rural residents and helping to “shape future priorities.”
The meetings will be led by the director for Electoral Area D, Leonard Hiebert. He will tour the south Peace at the end of this month and early April, speaking to residents at local gathering spaces, including a seniors hall.
“I really look forward to talking with as many residents as possible about what matters most to them,” said Hiebert in the regional district’s release. He also serves as vice-chair of the board at the Peace River regional district.
Six get-togethers will happen in early spring. On March 23, Hiebert will visit the Pouce Coupe Seniors Hall, then the following day he will be in the community centre at Kelly Lake, and he will end the week in Arras.
The next week, the vice-chair of the district board will visit Farmington on March 30, Rolla on March 31 and Tomslake’s Tate Community Hall on April 1. All meetings will run from 6 to 8 p.m., according to the regional district.
“Community meetings with residents are all about listening,” Hiebert said.
“Whether it’s services, community spaces, safety or something else entirely. This is an opportunity for residents to have an in-person conversation with their elected representative,” he continued.
Invitations are being sent directly to residents of the electoral area by mail. Questions can be submitted in advance by email to the regional district.
