Jackfish residents are being invited to weigh in on the future of their community hall, as the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) seeks input on whether the facility should be repaired.
The Jackfish Community Hall, at 1515 Old Jackfish Rd., has long served as a gathering place for local events. Now, residents are being asked to review the results of a recent building condition assessment and share their views through an online survey and a community meeting.
This will be the final planned community meeting for the project. If there is clear support from residents, along with provincial approval and approval from the regional board, a referendum could take place Oct. 17, 2026.
The assessment, commissioned after community feedback in 2025, examines the condition of the building and estimates the cost of repairs. PRRD staff and a project consultant will present the findings and hear directly from residents.
The meeting and survey will focus on:
• whether to repair the existing hall or not proceed with repairs
• estimated repair costs and the impact on local taxes
• community priorities and next steps
Community feedback will guide a recommendation to the regional board on whether to move ahead with a referendum. If approved, residents would have the final say on creating a new taxation service area to support the hall’s ongoing operation.
