Pine Pass part of completed cell service expansion project from Rogers

Rogers 5G wireless service has been expanded along Highway 97 from Pine Pass to Chetwynd.

The company said the completed project will help eliminate long stretches of road that had little to no wireless service, allowing for drivers to call for help during a breakdown, access navigation tools, or stay informed during emergencies such as wildfires, floods, or severe winter weather.

Northern Development CEO Ben Campbell said “This particular section of highway is subject to rapidly-changing weather in the winter and welcomes many international tourists in the summer as they travel on to Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek.”

“Improved cellular service along the route provides increased access to critical information during emergencies while also allowing people to stay in contact with family and friends during their travels.”

Rogers said projects like these are part of its work with the B.C. government to expand wireless service.
