Challenger Sports soccer camp returning to Dawson Creek this summer

Young soccer players in Dawson Creek will have the opportunity to develop their skills this summer as the city partners with Challenger Sports to host a week-long camp.

The camp will run from July 20 to 24 and will feature instruction from international and professional coaches. Organizers said participants will be able to improve their soccer skills, build confidence, make new friends and stay active.

Programs available include TinyTykes, half-day camps, full-day camps and a late pick-up option.

Dawson Creek culture and recreation manager Lindsay Dufrene said the city is pleased to welcome Challenger Sports back after several years.

“They contacted us earlier this year with a brand new proposal and it sounded awesome, so we’re really excited to bring them back here to the community,” said Dufrene.

Families can also take advantage of Challenger Sports’ Refer-a-Friend program. Participants who refer a friend will receive a $40 credit to use on the Challenger Sports website, while the friend being referred will receive $30 off their registration.

Challenger Sports is also looking for a local host family for one of its international coaches. Organizers say hosting provides a cultural exchange experience and a way to support soccer in the community.

Host families will receive a free camp registration for one child attending the camp.

Registration information is available through Challenger Sports.com.
