Peace Pregnancy Support Centre hosting community barbecue fundraiser Friday

The Peace Pregnancy Support Centre is inviting the community to a barbecue fundraiser this Friday in downtown Dawson Creek to help support its ongoing programs and services.

The centre, which provides support for people facing unexpected or difficult pregnancies, offers a range of services including free pregnancy testing, educational resources, post-pregnancy and post-abortion support, and referrals to other community programs.

The fundraiser will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the green space between Obair and Brass Scissors Hair Designs. Organizers say residents are encouraged to stop by with family, friends and coworkers to take part.

Guests will be able to purchase a barbecue lunch featuring cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips and pop, with all proceeds going back to support the organization’s services in the community.

The event also comes shortly after the centre relocated to a new downtown Dawson Creek space.

Along with pregnancy-related supports, the centre runs weekly moms’ groups on Wednesdays, offering a space for mothers to connect, share experiences and receive encouragement.
