Taylor pool to close early as staffing shortages continue

Swimmers in Taylor will have one less week to use the community pool this summer as staffing shortages bring the season to an early close.

The Taylor Community Pool will shut down Friday, Aug. 21, a week earlier than originally planned.

The pool, operated through a partnership between the District of Taylor and the YMCA, announced the change in an Aug. 13 social media post.

The season was initially scheduled to run until Aug. 28.

The early closure follows a summer of reduced operating hours at the pool because of staffing challenges.

For the remainder of this week, the pool will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hours will then be reduced to 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday, Aug. 17, through Thursday, Aug. 20.

On the final day, the pool will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The YMCA’s website had previously listed Aug. 28 as the final day of the season.
