Hudson’s Hope ER to remain closed until Monday

Residents in Hudson’s Hope will have to wait a few more days for emergency department services to return to the local health centre.

The Hudson’s Hope Health Centre emergency department remains closed because of ongoing staffing challenges, with the closure now expected to continue until Monday, Sept. 14.

The latest extension comes after the service interruption, which began Sept. 2, was extended on both Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.

Northern Health said the health centre itself remains open during regular weekday hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding weekends and statutory holidays.

In a written statement, Northern Health said, “The current service interruption in Hudson’s Hope is the result of staffing challenges we have outlined previously.”

“The health centre’s emergency care services are expected to resume Monday, Sept. 14.”

Residents requiring emergency medical care while the department is closed are being advised to call 911.

Northern Health said BC Emergency Health Services can then arrange transportation to the nearest available hospital.

Emergency department services are expected to resume at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
