Dawson Creek RCMP investigate shots fired at home with five people inside

Dawson Creek RCMP are investigating after several shots were fired into a home while five people were sleeping inside.

Police said the incident happened just after 4 a.m. on Wednesday in the 1600-block of 108 Avenue.

No one was injured.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity and that the residence was not the intended target.

Dawson Creek RCMP have released an image from nearby video surveillance showing a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.

The vehicle is described as a red pickup truck with a large white or grey box in the bed.

“Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Cooper in a statement.

Police are asking people in the area to check their home surveillance systems and dash cameras for footage that may show the truck or anyone involved.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant video footage is asked to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP non-emergency line at 250-784-3700.

The investigation is ongoing.
