Uniform gang enforcement team launched for Northern B.C.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) announced the launch of its North District Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) in Prince George today (Thursday).

According to the unit, the team from the Lower Mainland was being utilized for communities in the north, and was deployed 39 times between 2020 and mid 2026.

Acting Officer in Charge, Superintendent Ryan Element said this new team gives them the presence needed in the region.

“This team will work closely with our policing partners, using intelligence led and proactive enforcement to disrupt organized crime, and to prevent violence.”

“We will be complimenting the important work already underway in communities across the north, and providing additional resources where they’re needed most.”

Sergeant Sarbjit Sangha said on a day to day basis, it will look like proactive enforcement within communities.

“Even though we are based out of Prince George, our teams will be travelling to all others as well, conducting the proactive enforcement.” said Sangha. “If there’s a need for a deployment with a certain community, we will do that.”

Sangha emphasized the decision to create the team was because of the number of deployments to assist northern communities.

While there have been violent incidents, most notably within Fort St. John, the creation doesn’t mean there has been an increase in violence.

Back in December 2025, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Nina Krieger announced the North District UGET at Prince George City Hall.
