Staffing challenges force temporary Hudson’s Hope ER closure

Emergency department services in Hudson’s Hope are temporarily unavailable because of staffing challenges, with the service expected to resume Wednesday morning.

According to the Northern Health’s emergency department status page, the closure began Tuesday, with reopening scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

In a written statement, Northern Health said, “The current service interruption in Hudson’s Hope is the result of staffing challenges we have outlined previously.” The health authority added, “The health centre’s emergency care services are expected to resume [on] Wednesday, Oct. 21.”

The latest interruption follows another temporary ER closure on Oct. 13.

The Hudson’s Hope Health Centre is normally open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, excluding weekends and statutory holidays.

Northern Health is advising anyone who needs emergency medical care during the closure to call 911 to connect with B.C. Emergency Health Services and arrange transport to the nearest available hospital.

Residents can check Northern Health’s emergency department status page for updates.
