Tumbler Ridge ER closure expected to last until Friday

Residents in Tumbler Ridge will have to wait until Friday morning for emergency department services to resume at the local health centre.

According to Northern Health’s Emergency Department Status Page, the department is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday.

In a written statement, Northern Health said, “The current service interruption in Tumbler Ridge is the result of staffing challenges we have outlined previously.”

The department was also temporarily closed on Oct. 16 because of staffing challenges.

The Tumbler Ridge Health Centre’s emergency department is normally open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, including weekends and statutory holidays.

During the closure, Northern Health is advising anyone who needs emergency medical care to call 911. BC Emergency Health Services can then arrange transport to the nearest available hospital.

Residents are encouraged to check Northern Health’s Emergency Department Status Page for updates, as service interruptions and reopening times can change.
