Bail hearing for Fort St. John home invasion accused adjourned to Nov. 9

A man facing four charges following an alleged home invasion and sexual assault in Fort St. John will remain in custody until his next bail hearing.

The B.C. Prosecution Service confirmed the judicial interim release hearing for 34-year-old man has been adjourned to Monday, Nov. 9, at 9:30 a.m. in Williams Lake.

The hearing was originally scheduled for Nov. 5 at the Williams Lake Law Courts.

He was arrested on Oct. 28 after RCMP investigated a reported break-in at a home near the 8900 block of 87 Street the previous day.

Police said the investigation began after a report that a man had entered a residence. According to the information provided, the man had followed one of the female victims to her home but was initially scared off by people inside.

After officers were unable to locate him during a neighbourhood search, the man allegedly returned to the residence and sexually assaulted another person before being scared off again.

The man was subsequently charged with sexual assault with a weapon, breaking and entering a residence to commit an indictable offence, uttering threats and forcible confinement.

The B.C. Prosecution Service confirmed he remains in custody pending his next bail hearing.
