Hudson’s Hope ER closure extended again as staffing challenges continue

Emergency department services in Hudson’s Hope remain temporarily unavailable, with Northern Health now expecting the service to resume next week.

The Hudson’s Hope Health Centre emergency department is scheduled to reopen Monday, Sept. 21, at 8:30 a.m., according to Northern Health’s Emergency Department Status page.

The latest closure follows a previous service interruption that began Sept. 2 and was extended twice before services were expected to return Sept. 14.

Northern Health has attributed the ongoing interruption to staffing challenges.

“The current service interruption in Hudson’s Hope is the result of staffing challenges we have outlined previously,” Northern Health said in a written statement.

The health centre remains open during its regular hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and statutory holidays.

Northern Health said emergency care services are expected to resume Monday.

Anyone who needs emergency medical care while the department is closed is being asked to call 911.

BC Emergency Health Services can then arrange transportation to the nearest available hospital.
