Hudson’s Hope ER closure extended as Northern Health cites staffing challenges

Emergency department services in Hudson’s Hope have been temporarily suspended again, with Northern Health now expecting the service to resume next week.

The latest closure comes shortly after the emergency department reopened Sept. 21 following a previous service interruption that began Sept. 18.

Northern Health has attributed the latest interruption to ongoing staffing challenges.

“The current service interruption in Hudson’s Hope is the result of staffing challenges we have outlined previously,” Northern Health said in a written statement.

The health authority said emergency care services are expected to resume Monday, Sept. 28.

During regular operating hours, the Hudson’s Hope Health Centre is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and statutory holidays.

Residents who require emergency medical care while the department is closed are being advised to call 911. Northern Health says BC Emergency Health Services can then arrange transportation to the nearest available hospital.
