Fort St. John RCMP investigate shots fired at residence

Fort St. John RCMP are investigating after multiple gunshots were reported in a residential neighbourhood Saturday morning.

Police said the shooting happened at about 7:25 a.m. on Saturday in the 10000 block of 96 Avenue.

Officers were called after residents reported hearing several gunshots in the area. An initial investigation indicates shots were fired at a residence.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation remains in its early stages, and police are working to identify those responsible.

“Discharging firearms in a residential neighbourhood puts innocent residents and families at significant risk,” said Cpl. Brett Urano, media relations officer for the B.C. RCMP.

“While we are fortunate no one was injured, the potential for a tragic outcome cannot be understated.”

Urano said officers are taking the incident seriously and are working to hold those responsible accountable.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has surveillance or dash camera footage from around the time of the shooting to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8100.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
