Former Peace River North MLA Jordan Kealy to stand trial in 2027

Former Peace River North MLA Jordan Kealy is scheduled to face a five-day trial in B.C. Supreme Court beginning Nov. 15, 2027, on a sexual assault charge.

The charge was announced earlier this year, drawing political attention and calls for Kealy to step away from public office.

Kealy was first elected to represent Peace River North in 2024 as a member of the B.C. Conservatives.

Crown prosecutors allege the offence took place between January and September of 2024, before Kealy was elected to the legislature that year.

He later left the party and ran as an independent candidate in the 2026 provincial election. He was defeated by B.C. Conservative candidate Curtis Whitford.

The sexual assault charge against Kealy has not been proven in court.
