South Peace Search and Rescue hosting golf fundraiser in Dawson Creek

Supporters of South Peace Search and Rescue will be hitting the links later this month for a fundraiser aimed at supporting the volunteer-run organization.

The annual golf tournament is set for Saturday, July 25, at the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club.

Organizers are promising a full day of golf, food, prizes and community spirit, according to a post shared on social media.

South Peace Search and Rescue (SPSAR) is a volunteer ground search and rescue group that responds to people in immediate distress or danger. The organization works closely with local RCMP and Emergency Management B.C. to help locate missing people in both remote and urban areas.

Teams of two or four are welcome to register for the tournament, which will follow a best-ball format.

Players will also have a shot at a $10,000 hole-in-one challenge on the course, adding some extra excitement to the day.

Alongside the tournament, prizes will be handed out throughout the event, and participants will wrap up the day with a steak dinner prepared with support from Lawrence Packing Company and the golf course kitchen.

For those who don’t golf, dinner-only tickets are also available for $65.

Organizers said the event is meant to bring the community together in support of a cause that relies heavily on volunteers and donations.

Whether joining for golf, dinner or simply to support, SPSAR is encouraging residents to take part and help make the fundraiser a success.

The tournament runs from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the course, located at 2121 Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek.

Registration is available through the event’s website.
