Baldonnel Road to close to commercial traffic for culvert work

Drivers using Baldonnel Road will need to plan for traffic changes this week as crews replace a culvert.

Dawson Road Maintenance said work on 107 Baldonnel Road is scheduled to continue through Thursday.

Commercial traffic will be unable to use the affected section of road between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day while work is underway.

A detour will direct commercial vehicles along the 249, also known as the 105 Tank Farm Road, before connecting to the 238B 105 Road and 238U Cassidy Road, and then back to 107 Baldonnel Road.

Residential traffic and school buses will still be able to get through the work area, but drivers should expect single-lane alternating traffic and short delays.

Dawson Road Maintenance is advising motorists to give themselves a few extra minutes for their commute.

Signage warning travellers about the upcoming closure was scheduled to go up on the 255 Underpass Road on Sept. 2.

Traffic control with single-lane alternating traffic may also be needed on Thursday as crews finish the work and remove equipment from the area.

Drivers are encouraged to follow posted signs and traffic-control directions while travelling through the work zone.
